Because of Thursday's rain, and with more expected, the new curved alignment connecting Blue Jay Road and McCall Road together near the intersection with Norfolk Southern Railroad is now expected to begin by Monday, December 20th, or early that same week. Weather permitting, Effingham County’s road contractor APAC-Atlantic, Inc. (APAC) is currently scheduled to begin final surface paving beginning Saturday the 18th of December and is expected to have traffic in the newly constructed alignment during the week starting Monday, the 20th.
The paving during this period will include shoulder paving on the new alignment section, full paving typical at the turn lane, leveling at the three tie-in sections, and finish paving on the new alignment section. APAC will maintain traffic in the current configuration until paving is completed. This new configuration provides turn lanes to assist with congestion and provide better traffic flow. We will continue to provide updates as work progresses.
