Court Hearings & Arraignments
Court Hearings - Civil Cases
Court Hearings are held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. You must give 24 hour notice if you are unable to attend court. Being absent from your court date will result in the Judge deliberating the case without you being present. If you have a lawyer representing you, please have them send an Entry of Appearance to our office . If you have any questions regarding your court dates please contact us at 912-754-2124.
Court hearings for county ordinances are scheduled on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month. The hearings are scheduled for those who are demanded by the officer or the courts to attend to plead their case. The officer will be in court to testify to the violation upon you. You will have a chance to speak on your behalf. If you are found guilty, the judge will set a fine for your violations and you must pay the fine in our office. Community Service is an option if you are unable to pay your fine.
Paying Fines Before a Hearing
In some cases you may pay your fine before the arraignment. Call our office at 912-754-2124 and one of the clerks will let you know the amount of your fine or if you must appear for court. If you are able to pay your fine before the arraignment, you may come into the Magistrate Court office and pay by cash, check, debit/credit card, or money order.
Proper court attire is required for court appearances. It is asked that no shorts, halter tops, or flip flops be worn inside of the courtroom. If you are not dressed properly, you will be asked to leave the court and return at a later date. This will delay your hearing and require you to appear in court more than once.
The use of cell phones are not allowed in the courtroom. Your cell phone must be turned off before entering so that you do not disrupt the court. Children under the age of 10 are not permitted in the courtroom. No food or drinks are allowed.
